Popular Singer Gives Musical Gift For Cancer Teens
Singer / Songwriter Taylor Swift has gifted The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) $50,000 to create newly specialized programming and a high-tech music therapy platform to enable teen cancer patients to create and produce music while receiving cancer treatment.
M. Altschuler, MD, chief executive officer of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, adds: "Her gift will help lift the spirits of many CHOP patients during a difficult time...We are thrilled that Taylor Swift has chosen to support The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Cancer Center..." Grammy Winner Headlines Event For Autism & Parkinson's Disease
Grammy winning entertainer Ne-Yo will headline the 15th Annual DesignCare music, fashion and philanthropic event, on 7/27/13, to benefit the HollyRod Foundation. Ne-Yo adds, "It's an honor to be asked to be a part of this very special night that Holly and Rodney created for their foundation, HollyRod. DesignCare is such a prestigious event that draws a great crowd of supporters for the charity. Most people can say that they know someone affected by both autism and Parkinson's so many lives are affected by this night of fundraising. I'm really looking forward to being part of it..." Hip Hop Legend Aims For Diabetes Awareness
Hip-hop legend Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons has joined global health care giant Novo Nordisk, as ambassador, in the implementation of the new “Ask.Screen.Know”
educational program in “encouraging people to learn their risk for
diabetes and highlight the need for early diabetes detection.” Simmons shares, "Watching
my dad manage his diabetes, I know firsthand the impact that the
disease can have ...Your health is worth the time. That's why I joined
the Ask.Screen.Know. campaign. I'm looking at my own risk of diabetes
and holding myself accountable for my health. I'm asking others to do
the same." Simmons will also appear in a “national public
service announcement and host a series of local events across the
